The way of the world.

I am no one.
I am a god. Maybe not the one you worship nowadays but a deity none the less. The gods in history exist. The myths, the legends, all of it. A lot has been altered or lost in fiction but you better believe they are real. As I stated I am Kaneis. Meaning 'no one' in the greek language and such is my destiny to be. You might know the name Zeus better and you should because not only is he real but he is part of the reason why the world is in its current state. You live your lives day to day but those who have deep ties to the divine know that the world is dying slowly. Gaia is doing what she can but I fear it is too mush for the titan. I'm sorry, allow me to explain. Within every living being there is a life source, a soul if you will. When a being expires the soul is given to the earth to keep its life source going. The earth has been in a deficit for thousands of years. The wars and misuse of the soul forge by the gods as well as the extinction of the titans is the cause of this.
Millions of years before my time the world was populated with many of beings that exist today as well as extinct ones. The land was rich and wasn't in its current formation. Yes, the continents you see today were one. On this land there walked titans. Creatures the size of mountains if not bigger. They kept the world alive. They grew trees where they could, cared for all life that existed, all to keep the soul forge fed. The more the merrier right? The soul forge was in Tartarus or what you would call the underworld. It's master was Kronos. The Nephilim assisted in the delivery of these souls but only Kronos could weave souls to their purpose. You see, there are roles the earth gave to some beings that would be inherited by their offspring only, for these were dire responsibilities.
The gods you read about, Zeus, Ra, Odin, they came many years later but would be the back up plan or reserves. These beings as you've read were gifted with extreme power. They lived ages but were not as immortal as you think. It's simple, you live and you die. When a god died their souls were potent enough to replenish the earth when it was needed which at the time wasn't. The gods asked Kronos for time which meant extending their lives. The world was healthy and Kronos grew to love these gods so he weaved an abundance of souls and gave them to the gods. This happened for millions of years until the first signs of withering were noticed by Gaia. The continent was cracking and parts of the earth were showing signs of decay. Kronos took heed of these events. When the gods asked for more Kronos denied them. They pleaded and begged so in a show of sympathy he granted it to them one last time with one condition they first need to bring a hand full of sand to Gaia and return with its count. Easy enough. But when the gods returned they met with Kronos one by one. He would give each more than enough souls but the number they brought back times three millennia would be the day they leave to join the soul forge. Of course they all agreed but time flies fast when you are a god.
Kronos had five gods he hand picked himself and taught them they way of the soul forge. They learned everything he could teach them and after he would send them to the next titan to learn more of the world. Millions of years of knowledge through the teachings of the titans would make these gods the acolytes of the soul master for when Kronos decided they were ready he appointed them his soul wardens. He granted them the ability to weave souls as he did so that more could be done throughout the earth. All five would disperse and position themselves in each major nation of gods. There they would teach the way of the world to young gods and assist in the departure of their souls. Hades, Osiris, Hel, Mictlan, and Izunami would settle in to their home nations to teach and soul weave where needed until the time was coming to claim the life of the first elder god.
Kronos knew this time would come and called forth Baldur, first son of Odin, to join the soul forge. After a while Hel went to Odin and demanded Baldur be brought to Kronos to which he refused and banished her from Asgard. Kronos called forth five more gods to join him. Many were eager to learn for they wanted the role that would grant them service to Kronos and with it eternal life. Even Zeus and Odin asked for the opportunity but he refused all who asked and once again handpicked them himself. Fenrir, Loki, Chiron, and Sekhmet were chosen and immediately sent to Thanatos, Lord of the Nephilim and most loyal subject to Kronos. There they would learn from him and eventually learn to reap souls. The greatest of the Nephilim could rip the soul from a being after wearing them down and now these powers were given to these four gods. Led by Thanatos, they were appointed to the Wardens who were in need.
Loki would serve his daughter Hel. Though he is her father they looked past such titles for they were chosen for a higher calling. Immediately Hel demanded for Baldur again and like the last time Odin would refuse. When they brought the news to Kronos the titan had a face of sadness for he knew what needed to be done. Kronos gave Loki more souls than Any god has carried and gave the order to take Baldur's life by force. Loki would have to confront his whole family but this was his test. This was the time to show he was better than the other selfish gods. When they arrived in Asgard Loki alone would face the army of the aesir. He cut through many and was soon known to be an unstoppable force until he would come face to face with his father and his brother Thor. After their easy defeat Loki would leave them beaten and bloodied with Odin missing an eye. He expected to fight more but instead he found his brother sitting alone against the tree of ygdrasil. Baldur had a look of sadness on him but at the sight of Loki he would smile. Not wanting anymore death or fighting amongst his family he gave his life willingly. Loki thanked his brother and then reaped his soul where he stood.
This turn of events was heard all over the world. Kronos was no longer sympathetic to these gods. There was no pleading. No hiding. No fighting. When the time came and Kronos demanded your return to the soul forge you would go willingly and meet him in Tartarus or you would be pursued by a soul reaper. For many years this would be the way of life. Kronos would give you life until your sands ran out. Around this time Kronos told Hades to take on a pupil. The wardens worried if this was the start of their demise but would still do as commanded until their return to the soul forge. Hades chose a young god named Pandora. He did as Kronos did and taught her the way of the world and the soul forge. It wasn't long before a new warden was appointed and Zeus would see this as an opportunity. Pandora was just given her powers as a soul warden and returned to Olympus to say her goodbyes to he family only to find them held hostage by Zeus. He would demand her allegiance to him and in turn he would let her family live. For the first time an acolyte would betray Kronos.
At this time it would be Odin who would be summoned to the forge. He would refuse for Zeus assured him his life and the life of all gods if they would join him. Instead of Loki, Kronos sent Fenrir the fiercest of the four. Though he was raised and lived with the Aztecs he was half Nephilim which made his reaping second nature to him. As soon as he reached the gates of Asgard Tyr the lawgiver and captain of the guards stepped forward with his hand up to halt him. Fenrir changed to his wolf form and bit his hand off. Without word or second thought the wolf charged for the stronghold. Any in his way were cut down like cattle. He was unstoppable and unlike Loki he cared for no life taken. All that mattered was his mission. After his onslaught through the whole kingdom he tore through the gates of the throne room to find many elder gods inside. Again ,without so much as a trickle of doubt, he charged straight for Odin only to be hit by a bolt of lightning and sent backwards. It was Zeus. Fenrir was confused as to how he found such power until he saw her. Pandora was hiding behind Zeus begging for forgiveness. For the first time since his arrival he spoke. "When I am done ripping all these petty gods apart I will come for your flesh traitor, for my fangs will be your forgiveness." These words were remembered through the ages for this was when the gods felt true terror. All the god attacked him but he still pressed forward killing many until Zeus commanded Pandora to act. She would weave the souls out of Fenrir as he fought in order to weaken him. He did weaken but still not enough to kill him. With half the room dead the leftover gods managed to pin him down. Vulkan then brought the strongest chains he could craft and they would imprison the wolf for eternity.
The gods have their weapon. Word spread of Zeus's uprising and offer of life for assistance in the rebellion. The wardens were summoned to Kronos one last time. He released them from his service with one final order. They were to continue their work as soul weavers and stay out of future confrontations with the gods. The acolytes protested and even begged but Kronos grew angry. He knew what was coming and explained that their duty to the world comes first and foremost even if it is the gods giving the orders. The wardens left saddened. Each returned with their reaper and continued their work. It wasn't long before the gods would confront them. Hel and Loki were banished from Asgard. Hades, Osiris, and Mictlan, along with their reapers were ordered into service of their respective nations. Izunami would not kneel. When confronted by her sister Amaterasu, instead of giving her service, she would attack her in a fit of rage. She was alone and was quickly overpowered by Amaterasu's forces. She was given many chances and each time she would refuse only to vow revenge for their betrayal. For this Izunami would be imprisoned for eternity.
Thanatos and his wife Taliel pledged the entire race of Nephilim to Kronos only for the Titan to refuse. Like the titans, the Nephilim gave their lives to the world shepherding souls since the beginning of time. Often Thanatos wondered why Kronos never appointed him a reaper. So he asked "Why am I, one of your oldest friends and loyal servant, pushed to the side in these dire times?"
The Titan held his hand out for the couple to step in and raised them to meet eye to eye. Kronos smiled and asked if they would still be loyal after his death. Thanatos and his wife looked at each other in confusion then the Nephilim would bow before him as their answer. Kronos then gave his final order to them.
" Then Nephilim are to dismiss themselves from the battles ahead and live to the fullest. Whether it is god or titan that hold dominion over this earth, they will continue to shepherd souls to the forge. You will build a nation like the other gods and teach the way of the world as I have taught you. In a time absent of titans it is the nephilim that will keep the forge fed. You will not seek revenge nor declare war on the gods. You will not hold yourselves in allegiance to anyone after me. You are my will, my hand, my angels..........now, take flight and watch from the heavens for what comes next will leave you saddened my most dearest of friends. But, I hope you see the light in the end, for I have one last lesson for you."
Kronos closed his eyes. The two Nephilim felt a surge of power that they never felt before. Kronos gave souls beyond comprehension to them then lowered his hand leaving them hovering in front of him before he would turn his back and never lay eyes on them again.
Now that the wardens were out of the picture the gods would strike. The battle then wasn't decided by a few skirmishes until an upper hand was gained by an apposing force. No, this was a battle of stamina. With both sides weaving souls, titans and gods would fight millions of years. The world would break. The continent would break and beasts would go extinct to feed the gods. It was moving slow and the only one feeling the pain was the earth itself. A fraction of the titans removed them selves from the fight and committed their bodies and soul to reinforce the earth. Now the tides were changing in favor of the gods. The titans would make their last stand. Atlas would attack Olympus and Typhon would wage war with Poseidon and his legions of the sea. With his generals making a push on Zeus's stronghold to try and destroy Pandora, Kronos prepared for the end. He looked to his lover Rhea, who was a god, and would push her to join her kind. She was devoted and would refuse him. He needed only to remind her of the danger their child would be in. Only then did she leave and seek refuge with Shiva who accepted a fellow mother and put Rhea under her protection to keep them far from Zeus's wrath during the war.
Kronos made his way to Olympus to join Atlas in the assault. When he arrived he ordered Atlas to take his leave and leave the rest to him. Atlas knelt and began to commit himself to the earth. With Typhon holding off Poseidon and the other gods he struck at the heart of Zeus's stronghold. Gods were striking as the titan climbed. Those who got too close were crushed.
